Sharing the story

I am a writer.

I write to connect.
I write to notice.
I write to remember.
I write to savor.
I write to mourn.
I write to sit with the questions.
I write to learn what I think.
I write to worship.
I write to feel.
I write to encourage.
I write to teach.
I write to tell stories.
I write because words matter.

I write because, in the beginning was the Word,

and I believe words, too, will endure.

You can find examples of my writing here on the blog where I’ve written since 2011 about, among other things, parenting, anxiety, faith, gratitude and living fully awake to everyday moments.

I’ve been featured as a guest on these sites:

Amber C. Haines blog here and here, at the online homes of
Christie Purifoy and
Lori Harris, on
SheLoves Magazine, at
(in)courage here and here and in
MomSense print magazine.

Two of my devotional pieces were included in Always There — a compilation of devotional writing in partnership with MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and published by Revell in 2012.

I graduated with a B.A. in journalism from the University of Portland and wrote for The Oregonian (on a college internship back…a little ways).

I have assisted on website copy and written Vacation Bible School curriculum — for India, Madagascar and young athletes in the U.S. I’ve waxed poetic about the glory of cupcakes, (encouraged and cried with and) edited memoir writing and worked to tighten up instructional manuals.

If you think I might be a good fit,
